TB-500 for pain and healing: what we know
Bottom line: TB-500 is marketed for pain, healing, and tissue repair, but human clinical evidence has not been established. It is not FDA-approved for pain or wound healing.
What did FDA find?
- FDA found no medical-literature reports in which TB-500 was administered to humans.
- FDA found no evidence that could establish effectiveness for wound healing.
- Human safety is unknown, including the risk of immune reactions and peptide-related impurities.
TB-500 is not the same as thymosin beta-4
Websites often use the names interchangeably. FDA notes that TB-500 and thymosin beta-4 are different substances, so evidence about one should not automatically be applied to the other.
What is missing?
Useful evidence would require well-designed human trials with clearly identified material, a comparison group, meaningful outcomes, and adequate safety follow-up. That evidence is not currently available.
