Is any peptide FDA-approved for pain?
Yes: ziconotide, sold as PRIALT, is FDA-approved for certain patients with severe chronic pain. It is very different from online “healing peptides” such as BPC-157 or TB-500.
What is it approved for?
PRIALT is indicated for severe chronic pain when medication must be delivered into the spinal fluid and other treatments have failed or cannot be tolerated.
This is a specialist treatment
PRIALT is delivered through an intrathecal infusion system by, or under the direction of, an experienced physician. Its FDA label carries a boxed warning for severe psychiatric symptoms and neurological impairment.
Why this distinction matters
“Peptide” describes a broad type of molecule, not a single level of evidence. One peptide can have controlled trials and an approved label while another has only animal research or online testimonials.
